Profile Optimization

We and many others have been pushing Twitter as a great social networking tool that also has business implications. We have joined a number of sites in talking about business tools for Twitter and marketing success stories there.

It was inevitable that spammers would come along to tout ways to quickly build the number of people following you on the micro-blogging platform. The obvious equation here is that the number of followers you have = success.

Interview: Noah Sow

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

“Germany is a developing country in terms of
racism

Noah tells it like it is when it comes to racism. An interview with the German Noah Sow about her new book Deutschland Black & white. Everyday Racism’.  She talks about her work as an anti-racism activist and about herself as a singer in a punk rock band. And for young people, she has a clear message too.

Noah Sow, born and raised in Bavaria Germany, is a moderater in radio and TV shows. She is also a
radio play writer, author, speaker and producer. As a composer and singer she became well known with the band  “Noah Sow & The Heimlich Maneuver.” In 2001, she founded the organization der braune mob, the first anti-racist media watch dog in Germany.

Germany Black & White by Noah Sow

cover_schwarzweiss A book that challenges accepted paradigms.

Non-Germans may be surprised to learn about the existence of numerous Black Germans (Schwarze Deutsche) who have   always     been here. Even the most cautious estimates say that there are far more than 1,000,000 Blacks currently living in      Germany, most of whom are German citizens. This makes up more than one percent of the country’s population

With a background of years of media-watch and antiracist work, Noah Sow puts the finger into the wound of unconscious racism and erects many attention-getting stumbling blocks. Against the backdrop of Germany’s specific difficulties with race and nationality, Noah Sow speaks the uncomfortable truth from a Black German perspective, thereby starting a process of awareness that will lead to changes.

In Germany Black & White, we learn how even German UNICEF advertising campaigns use racist clichés, why Bavaria is a developing country, and why the relationships between White mothers and Black children are more than just a family affair.

Thanks to the author’s unique talent to pair hard facts with humour, the result is a book that teaches about a subject that is as important as it is painful, in a way that is effective, substantial and entertaining.

“A public is everything and nothing, the most dangerous of all powers and the most insignificant: one can speak to a whole nation in the name of the public and still the public will be less than a single real man, however unimportant. “There is no good calling upon a Holder Danske or a Martin Luther; their day is over, and at bottom it is only the individual’s laziness which makes a man long to have them back, a worldly impatience which prefers to buy something cheap, second-hand, rather than to buy the highest of all things very [...] […]
